In today’s modern world where things get spread quickly, it’s not hard to think that success is fast or linear. Yes this may be true for some people and it is possible, but often I think of true success as a game on a golf course (a really terrible game). Sometimes you hit the ball in the sand, other times against a tree and it goes backward. But with each stroke, you get closer to the hole. That’s what you want to do with your business or the thing you are working on – keep hitting that ball and it does get you closer.
Even the people that do have true over-night success it is usually due to the groundwork or the foundation they put in place. Whether that is studying cinematography for 5 years and then hitting it big with their first short film. Maybe it’s practicing tennis for 7 years straight and then going to a Grand Slam and winning it.
Whatever you think it is, you can not compare people’s front stage and how they appear to you to what they had to do to get there. Their backstage might be much different in terms of the ground work and foundation work they had to put in place to get there.
