I got a chance to talk to a friend earlier this week and discussed some really interesting things about personal life, business, and inner growth. We ended up discussing something that really was an interesting conversation about different people and about the tunnel light concept which I will share with you.
If you don’t know what the tunnel light concept is – let me explain it to you.
If you think of a tunnel that a train goes through, before you enter the tunnel you see light, you are in a happy mood, you are in a state of euphoria, there may be some things around you that could be influencing you or certain trees surrounding you – you could be at the beach surrounded by palm trees. Dolphins could be to the side of you jumping up and directly in front you have a dark tunnel.
In this dark tunnel as you walk towards it and move in – you slowly start decreasing your vision and whats around you. You are in an empty zone, you don’t know whats really beneath your feet, you cant see the walls any more, but a light in front of you starts to show. You see the light and you look back and see the light behind you with a glimpse of the beach. The light in front of you looks calming, you see it and you want to go towards it.
Some people get this far in their personal life, they are at the crossroads of being alone. They can go back to where they were, they can stay in the tunnel for a long time unsure of what to do, others proceed further towards the new light. The tunnel can be a treacherousness place. It can be dark, it can be cold, and lonesome. We all must walk through the tunnel to get to the light on the other side for inner personal growth to occur. Otherwise you will stay in the same zone that you were. As you see the light, you know the path you want to take, you know where you want to go, you feel a different energy coming from the new light, you can smell something different.
When you finally get there, and things slowly come to focus you come out to a garden filled with colorful flowers, roses, trees, berries, and animals. You went from the beach to a magical garden. Both places are great places, there is nothing wrong with either of them, but the journey you take to get there can be hard for most. It is the time where we may feel most vulnerable and alone.
What I am talking about here is growth. I am talking about inner growth. Growth that can only be done by you, it is not something many can help you with. People can guide you and point you to the tunnel, but you have to take the steps. Unsure of where you will end up can be a difficult thing to realize but remember that growth is always a good thing. You gain new experiences, new insights, broaden your horizons, and learn things you never could before.
If you stay at the beach all your life or in place without growth – you will live a life that is repetitive. It will repeat over and over. People get stuck in a loop cycle reliving their life. They get a new job every year or two constantly making the same mistakes in their new job as their previous jobs, or the job they get is no better for them as the last one just in a different situation. Or they associate with people of the same caliber and never improve further.
Everyone walks into the dark tunnel in their life, but some exit and go back to their happy place, others push through and walk slowly towards the light, and a few people run! Which one are you?
Just remember to enjoy the tunnel walk. We are always changing – change is inevitable.
